How can I access the curriculum? What are the prerequisite courses?

What are make-up and makeup exams?
A make-up exam is administered for midterm exams. If two exams are held during the semester, a student may take a make-up exam for only one of them. Whether a student is eligible to take a make-up exam for a course and the procedures for administering make-up exams are governed by the principles established by the Senate. To be eligible for a make-up exam, students must submit a written request clearly stating and documenting their valid reason to the department within three days following the exam date. Information regarding make-up exams can be found in the “Principles for the Acceptance of Excuses and the Administration of Make-Up Exams for YTÜ Mid-Semester Exams” document, located in the “Regulations” section of the YTÜ Office of Student Affairs website.
To be eligible to take a make-up exam, students must have been enrolled in the relevant courses during the academic year in which the exam is administered and must have met the requirements to take the end-of-semester exam for those courses. Students who are ineligible to take make-up exams are not granted the right to take a make-up exam for that course. Students may take make-up exams for courses in which they received a conditional pass or a failing grade (excluding F0). The grade received on the make-up exam replaces the end-of-semester exam grade for that course.
What are the requirements for taking the graduation exam?
To be eligible to take the graduation exam, students must have met the requirements to take the final exam for the relevant course. Students who are ineligible to take the graduation exam are not granted the right to take a make-up exam for this exam. For students who have no more than two courses remaining for graduation, a graduation exam for their failed courses is administered after the make-up exam and within the timeframe specified in the academic calendar. Students who cannot graduate because their cumulative GPA is below 2.00 may take the graduation exam for up to two courses in which they have received a conditional pass (DC) grade. To pass the graduation exam, students must earn a grade of at least CC. The grade received on the exam replaces the course grade for that course. The application dates for the graduation exam are specified in the academic calendar published on the YTÜ Office of Student Affairs website.
Which courses are offered in English? How many English-taught courses do I need to take?
Courses offered in English are listed in the course schedule published on the department’s website at the beginning of each semester. As a graduation requirement, each student must take English-taught courses totaling at least 30% of the total credits in the curriculum. Students can also track information regarding the English course credits they have taken and are required to take through the automated system.

What should I do if exams for two different courses overlap?
If there is a conflict between the exam schedules of the dual major program and the primary major program, the student must first take the exam(s) for the course(s) in the primary major program. The student may then take the exam(s) for the course(s) in the dual major program by submitting a “Request for Make-up Exam” form.
How are projects and final theses submitted?
Projects and final theses must be prepared in accordance with the thesis template available in the “Undergraduate Forms” section of the department’s website. The final submission deadline for projects and theses is announced on the department’s website. At the end of the semester, after approval by the academic advisor, they are submitted to the department along with the project-thesis submission form found in the “Undergraduate Forms” section of the department’s website. Research projects, design projects, and final theses are submitted online during the last week of classes each semester by uploading them via the link provided in the “Announcements” section of the department’s website.
How can I take courses during summer school?
Announcements regarding courses offered during Summer School and related registration dates are published in the “Academic Calendar” on the YTÜ Student Affairs page. Students must submit a written request to their department to register for Summer School courses offered in their own department or in other YTÜ departments.
YTÜ students may take courses from the summer school programs of another higher education institution for courses not offered at our university’s Summer School, provided that their department deems it appropriate and the relevant Administrative Board approves the request. To take courses from other institutions, students must apply to their department before course registration and have their request for course enrollment approved. The passing grade for a course taken at another higher education institution is the passing grade specified in the “YTÜ Associate and Bachelor’s Degree Education and Teaching Regulations.”
Students are subject to the “YTÜ Summer School Guidelines” found in the regulations section of the YTÜ Student Affairs page regarding matters related to summer school.
How do I apply for and complete an internship?
Students must first apply online to their department to complete the internships included in their curriculum. If the company where the internship will be conducted is not on the list of recognized companies, students must fill out the internship placement form and submit it online along with the other required documents no later than 14 days before the start of the internship. Detailed information regarding internship applications and the required documents can be found in the “Online Internship Application” section on the department’s website. Upon completing the internship, students must submit the “Internship Record Form” and “Internship Logbook” to the Department Chair within 1 (one) month of the internship’s completion. Internship logbooks not submitted within this timeframe will not be accepted. After submission, the internship logs are reviewed by the relevant internship committees. If deemed necessary, students may be asked to make corrections to their internship logs, or logs deemed unsuitable may be rejected. When and how do I apply for Erasmus?
Under the ERASMUS student exchange program, students can complete a portion of their studies at many foreign universities with which the YTÜ Department of Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering has bilateral agreements. What should I do to continue my education at the graduate level after I complete my undergraduate degree?
After successfully graduating from the Department of Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering, students can continue their education in the Master’s Program in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering. To enroll in the Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering Master’s Program at the YTÜ Institute of Natural Sciences, a student’s undergraduate GPA must be at least 2.5/4.0. In addition, students must have taken the ALES exam and a foreign language exam. Application dates are announced annually in the graduate academic calendar posted on the YTÜ Institute of Natural Sciences website. The admission and enrollment requirements for graduate education are specified in the “Regulations on Graduate Education and Teaching: Procedures and Principles” of YTÜ.
